artist’s space blog
2015

Many communities make up the Mission—many of these communities have been moved out—the goal of this blog is to give an intimate picture of one specific community—what does it mean when we say— “the artists have left the Mission!”

Studio 17 was an artist community that inhabited the fourth floor of 2111 Mission street—an old brick building on the corner of Mission & 17th above Thrift Town and The Fabric Store—across from the One Dollar Store.

At the end of June 2015 the lease for the artists in STUDIO 17 was up—through careful observation—Alex wanted to explain what that loss meant to the artists themselves and to San Francisco as a city.

The blog enters the individual artist spaces to show what the texture is for each artist.
